His walk stopped when he arrived at the steps for a wide building. He saw two large stone cats standing on pedestals, on either side of the building. They had ferocious teeth and thick manes of fur. He looked at the place in awe, but realized he couldn't read the sign.

"Excuse me sir," he called out to one of the passersby. "Can you tell me what this place is?"

"You're not from around here, are you? That is the city's public library!"
