The earth shook for a full minute with great magnitude. The horses bucked and yelled out in fright.

The three of them looked at each other. Earthquakes didn't happen here, not natural ones. Whatever had just happened, it wasn't natural.

They ran deeper into the mountains, heading towards the source. Whatever had just happened, they needed to investigate. They could hear the aftermath of the earthquake still happening, as rocks shifted near the epicenter.

As they rounded a cliffside, they saw a giant cloud of dirt drifting into the air. The entire region smelled foul.
