Kiera turned to see Lanna walking down the road. She wore a long crimson dress with a short but wide hat.
"Lanna, you are here," Kiera swallowed her surprise.
"I'm the court mage to the king. Same as you."
"I suppose I hadn't thought about that."
"Did you think about me at all? Any of you?"
"We've been busy."
"Too busy to write?"
"There was this whole war. You sided with Steffon."
"And that was all you needed to cut me out? What about the elves? Vanya? Naerwen?"
"We have met once or twice," Kiera admitted.
"I thought what we were doing was greater than borders and greater than kings."
"When we split, it seemed so hard to reach out…"
"I have always been here."
Kiera and Lanna were both members of the League of Sorceresses. However, politics and a war caused a schism and Lanna left. Finally, as the war draws to an end, the two see each other again and have to reconcile their differences. What do they say next, and what magic does Lanna teach Kiera to help them in the fights to come? Find out in The Chaotic Stoic.
